Keeping leather shoes clean

You should begin by gently removing any dirt from your loafers or boots with a soft shoe brush or cloth. Use a separate, damp clean cloth to wipe your shoe clean; for finished leather (a polished appearance), you can dilute a small quantity of soap to clean the surface thoroughly.

Keeping your suede shoes clean

For suede, you should carefully blot the shoes with water and leave them to dry with newspaper inside to ensure they hold shape. For more severe stains, dab a small amount of white vinegar onto the affected area to spot clean the suede and leave to dry.

Polish & Shine

Keep your leather looking fresh with a wax polish. Using your natural applicator brush, apply a small amount to the surface and buff and shine. You might want to use a cloth to achieve a polished shine. Our specially formulated wax polish comes in black, tan and neutral to ensure the best care for all of our styles.

Protect your leather

Once your shoes are clean, apply an even coating of leather protector spray to the surface. Using shoe trees and shoe horns.

These little tools are indispensable. Add a shoe tree to your Weejuns when storing to maintain shape and absorb moisture or damp that creeps in. Use a shoehorn to avoid forcing your foot into the shoe .Doing this breaks the heal seam down and weakens the structure shortening their lifespan.

Avoid water but dry carefully if your shoes do get wet.

If your Weejuns get a soaking make sure they dry naturally away from radiators and direct heat, ideally with a shoe tree to maintain their shape. Leather soles also do best when they stay dry so when you can, avoid walking on wet surfaces. But if you do have to, dry them on their sides so the leather sole gets plenty of ventilation Rotate your shoes so they have time to recover and they’ll look better and last a lot longer.

Don't stint on the attention.

These are timeless shoes, handmade to last so look at your relationship with your Weejuns as a long-term thing. Check in on them regularly, follow these simple tips to maintain their condition and don’t wait until things get bad to take them to a repair shop if needed.
