G.H. Bass & Co. has been linked with mod fashion and culture from the very beginning of the trend. The clean cut, classic look pairs perfectly with our shoes, and we’re proud to have been part of this iconic culture. Friend of G.H. Bass & Co. Owen Harvey recently hosted an exhibition, showcasing his photographs celebrating the mod lifestyle. We sat down with him to hear about his inspiration for the project.

What attracts you to mod culture?

I’m attracted to the style, scooters and music, but more than anything the enthusiasm and love for this subculture by those involved.

What inspires your photography?

I’m inspired by many different things in life and it can change daily. The inspiration that sticks with me throughout, is the feeling of community, music, style and the chance to connect with people.

Do you have a favourite photograph from this collection?

It’s really hard to pick out a favourite, but if I had to pick one it would be the close crop of the dancing torso that I shot in Brighton. This close shot shows the fine tailoring, and attention for detail in clothing, but also the energy and enthusiasm for music.

How did you discover G.H. Bass & Co.?

G.H. Bass & Co. have always been one of those brands that I’ve been aware of really. Also, being around the Mod scene for a while now, I regularly see people wearing them on nights out.

Do you wear Bass yourself?

I do regularly wear a pair of Bass and love them!
