We Meet… Gianluca Ala
23rd April 2018
At G.H. Bass & Co., we love people who love style! So it’s no surprise that we’ve fallen for Italian fashionista Gianluca Ala. With classic looks set against a colourful Mediterranean backdrop, this Treviso trendsetter has amassed 174,000 followers on Instagram. So we set out to discover his secret.
How would you describe your personal style?
I have always considered fashion a subjective and not objective thing. By this I mean that, for me, fashion means "manifesting oneself" through a style that represents you. Therefore, for each collection, I choose what most represents me, creating a harmony between my way of being and my way of dressing, thus enhancing the brand I collaborate with. In the last year, I decided to direct my style, and consequently my collaborations, towards products that fully reflect the elegant and refined style that I have always loved, typically Italian.
Where did your love of fashion come from?
My love for fashion is innate; probably genetic, since my grandfather also had this passion for style. Since I was a teenager I have always been fascinated by men's fashion and above all by refinement in style, attention to detail and refinement in the combination of garments and colours. Of course, everything has been sharpened by the state in which I live, Italy, known as the "country of fashion".
What are your wardrobe essentials for SS18?
For SS18, my wardrobe absolutely cannot do without linen shirts in pastel colours like white, blue "sugar cane", beige "sahara", and blue "capri"; the same for the pants. I will combine it with loafers or sneakers.
Do you have a G.H. Bass & Co. favourite?
It’s difficult to choose a favourite model, because I love them all. The best way to find out my current favourite is to see which I am wearing on my Instagram page!
What do you think has been the key to your success on Instagram?
The key to being successful is to be yourself, do this job with passion and take care of the smallest detail – outfits, locations, and photos. Yes, if you see my photos I try to combine Italian style with Italian beauty. I think this is the secret of my page!
