The summer occasionwear edit
17th July 2019
Big occasions in the summer months can be difficult to plan ahead for, no thanks to the unpredictable nature of British weather. So, whether you’ve got a wedding coming up or you’re planning what to wear to the races, we’ve got your summer occasion footwear sorted.
Off to the races
Whilst it’s true that some of the larger racing events set smart or formal dress codes, race day outfits have moved on somewhat in that it’s not all about heels for women and tailcoats for men. A comfortable pair of shoes will be your best friend on a racecourse, whilst the classic G.H. Bass & Co. loafer also adds an instant elegance.
Or keep it cool like Richard Biedul, with relaxed-fit tailoring, an open shirt and Weejuns Larkin tassel loafers.
Festival fashion doesn’t have to include wellies, particularly if you’ve got a lot of day festivals coming up over the next few months – so take a leaf out of Friendly Fires’ Ed Macfarlane’s book and stomp about in the classic and comfortable Bass Weejuns (Ed wears his in wine leather).
If the forecast isn’t looking good for your upcoming weekender, check out our range of men’s boots and outdoor styles (and don’t forget your guide to keeping the leather clean). With chunky or wedge heels, hard-wearing outers and thick, hiking-style laces, you’ll have no trouble up against a bit of mud.
The age-old question of what to wear to a summer wedding. Can men get away with no tie or socks and still look the part? Absolutely.
Worried you can’t get away with flats as a wedding guest? Think again – with long, floaty dresses or power suits.
