The shoe lover interviews: Coco Mell and Bianca Derhy
17th July 2017
As true shoe addicts, when we’re not shopping for new styles and trying out new looks, we can usually be found reading blogs about shoes and following fellow shoe lovers on Instagram. We caught up with two of our favourite style experts to find out more about their inspiration and their top tips for this season.
Coco Mell – fashion stylist
Self-confessed ‘undeniable sneaker lover’, shoes naturally play a big role in Coco Mell’s creative styles, and our shoes have been lucky enough to take pride of place in more than one of her slick and striking shoots. We had a quick chat with the woman herself.
How did you hear about G.H. Bass & Co.?
I first got familiarised with the brand back in 2013 when I learnt about their collaboration with an internally renowned brand and from there I was drawn to G.H. Bass & Co.’s timeless silhouettes and the notably skilful craftsmanship that goes into creating a pair, not to mention the brand’s distinguished heritage.
What inspires you to choose Bass shoes for your shoots?
I’m all about clean and sophisticated aesthetics for my shoots and I’m inspired to select G.H. Bass & Co. as my footwear choice because I know I’ll not only have the above qualities but I’ll also be given a range of choice, which is so important to me because not every one of my shots are alike so I’m all about offering a variance in whatever I pull.
Nine out of ten times I’m normally looking to pack a punch when it comes to the colour palette I inject into my work, and this SS17 season G.H. Bass & Co., in particular, has treated me with an amazing range of colours to pick from and it’s nothing short of tough to choose!
Do you wear Bass yourself?
I most certainly do! I’ve got the Weejuns Penny Slides & Esther Kiltie - both of which I had a super tough time deciding which colour to get in each because I was royally spoilt for choice. But they’re such classic styles that no matter what colour I choose I’ll be able to match the shoe with pieces from my wardrobe.
Bianca Derhy – style blogger
Fashion, fitness and travel blogger Bianca Derhy is fast becoming a firm favourite in the Instagram and YouTube worlds. Her chic style is constantly displayed through clean, professional photos, which have featured our very own Weejuns Penny Slides in gold. We caught up with Bianca to ask a couple of questions.
Where are you based?
I am based in between three cities I call home: London, Paris and Miami.
Who is your audience?
My audience is the high-end high street woman who looks for ways to style up premium with trend-led pieces, and always has classic staples in her wardrobe! Typically, my readers are 21-35 years old, from all around the world!
What do you like to pair G.H. Bass & Co. shoes with?
I love to style my Bass shoes with almost anything – they have become my go-to for the season and are so versatile! My favourite combinations have been for workwear, with a blouse and high-waisted trousers, adding the gold slip-on shoe for a more relaxed vibe. Pop on a shirt dress, your Bass flats and you are good to go!
What are your favourite G.H. Bass & Co. colours this summer?
I've really been loving the metallic range from Bass this season, gold is my everyday colour! But I also really like a pop of colour, such as baby blue and pink – don't be afraid to let your shoes do the talking!
