G.H.Bass & Co. x YMC
9th March 2017
**News flash** G.H. Bass & Co. have collaborated with the influential London brand – YMC (You Must Create).
A relationship born from a united love of heritage, texture and colour. The shoes showcase the best of both labels – a truly complimentary blend.
YMC was founded by Graphic Design duo Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins in 1995 with a blueprint to create and understand, timeless design. Stylish, functional and modern clothing, footwear and accessories inspired by classic design and art, that does not follow current trends.
Sounds great, right? So when the opportunity of joining forces and connecting both brands arose we jumped at the chance.
The result has been a resounding success, creating an exclusive collection of hand crafted footwear. Using two classic silhouettes, the penny loafer and chukka boot, YMC have worked to reinterpret the styles with a modern contemporary voice.
Drawing inspiration from traditional West African crafts where Tribes from different areas produce individual African crafts according to their tradition, materials available, and historical influence.
“This is a perfect example of a western & African fusion” Fraser Moss – Head Designer at YMC
For womenswear we see the now iconic Weejuns penny redesigned to incorporate a crepe sole, veiled in splendid beadwork. Available in a combat green and dark brown leather. For menswear - the Scholar Stanford chukka boot is reworked with an accent on the embroidered toe detailing which is available in tan and navy suede.
